The year is 1994. The news is abuzz with the catchphrases like "information super highway", World Wide Web, internet, email etc.
Some people were also afraid of getting addicted to it. Watch this clip to understand it.
Websites back then were basic and rudimentary. That's the Web 1.0 if you will.
Now in 2022, news clips like this keep showing and telling the audience about what the Metaverse is, what an avatar is etc.
Even money can be transferred over the internet. I'm not talking about Swift transfers from bank to bank. I'm talking about Bitcoin. Borderless, unrestricted and CHEAP to send monetary value to anyone anywhere in the world who has access to the internet.
Now let's think about this a little bit further. If you could go back to 1994 but you only had a faint idea what the internet will look like 28 years later, what would you do differently back then?
Now in 2022, you might have seen the current form of the Metaverse and thought to yourself, "this is so basic and rudimentary it's not going to matter much".
That's what we thought of the websites back in 1994 today.
This year in 2022, after all that you've seen in development, what will you do differently today?
I know that Piyush Gupta, the CEO of DBS bank is majorly bullish on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. But this came out of left field (American slang for unexpected) for me.
All the things that we currently have like streaming video and audio services, online shopping, web services etc all can be traced to significant events during this time.
If you were alive back then in 1999, would you have imagined all the things and technology that we have right now in 2022?
That's 24 years of technological progress.
And here we are, right at the beginning of the next phase of the Internet.
Maybe the Internet won't be called the Internet in the next 24 years.
I remembered the term World Wide Web was a popular catch phrase back then but I don't hear as often anymore.
